Code of Conduct

Purpose

This Code sets the minimum conduct expected from anyone representing UKRCS at meetings, online, during training, exercises, events or authorised operational activity.

Members and volunteers should

• Act lawfully, safely and within their competence.
• Treat colleagues, partners and members of the public with respect.
• Follow authorised operational instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
• Protect personal, safeguarding and operationally sensitive information.
• Use UKRCS property and identification responsibly.
• Declare relevant conflicts of interest.
• Report serious safety, safeguarding or integrity concerns.
• Be truthful about UKRCS capability, status and authority.

Members and volunteers must not

• Claim police, fire, ambulance, government or statutory powers they do not possess.
• Self-deploy to an emergency as a UKRCS representative without authorisation.
• Use UKRCS identification to gain access, priority or influence to which they are not entitled.
• Harass, discriminate against, intimidate or exploit another person.
• Publish confidential or sensitive operational information without authority.
• Operate licensed communications equipment outside applicable legal or licence conditions.
• Remain on duty if fatigue, impairment or another condition makes continued activity unsafe.

Social media

Members expressing personal views should not imply those views are official UKRCS positions. Live incident information, protected personal information and confidential partner communications should not be posted without authority.

Breaches

Concerns may result in advice, training, restriction of duties, suspension of operational status, suspension of membership or termination of membership, depending on seriousness and the organisation's adopted procedures.
