Our safeguarding principle

UKRCS intends to operate in a way that protects children, adults at risk, volunteers and members of the public from avoidable harm, abuse, exploitation and inappropriate conduct.

Expected behaviour

• Treat people with dignity and respect.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Do not exploit a UKRCS role, uniform, identity or access for personal advantage.
• Do not use UKRCS activities to seek inappropriate access to vulnerable people.
• Report safeguarding concerns through the designated route.
• Follow any role-specific vetting or safeguarding requirements that are lawfully applicable.

Reporting a concern

Safeguarding concerns relating to UKRCS should be reported promptly. Until a dedicated safeguarding mailbox is fully established and monitored, concerns can be sent to info@ukrcs.org.uk with the subject line Safeguarding concern.

Confidentiality

Safeguarding information should be shared only with people who need it to protect someone, meet legal obligations or investigate a concern properly. Confidentiality cannot be promised where disclosure may be necessary to protect someone from harm.

Checks and training

UKRCS will determine safeguarding training and any legally appropriate background checks according to the actual duties of a role. Membership alone should not be used as a reason to collect unnecessary sensitive information.
