VOICE & DATA LINKS

Radio and satellite communications

Portable options that can add reach, independence and fallback when ordinary connectivity is unavailable or unsuitable.

Choose the link around the operational need

Radio can support disciplined local or wider-area voice communication where the selected service, licence, equipment and terrain are suitable. Satellite can provide independent backhaul where terrestrial internet or mobile coverage cannot meet the requirement.

UKRCS is developing procedures for equipment checks, channel and contact planning, call signs, message handling, logging, battery endurance and safe recovery. Technology is selected only after considering coverage, capacity, weather, obstructions, congestion, interoperability and lawful use.

Planned capability

  • Portable radio stations and operator teams
  • Structured voice procedure and message logging
  • Satellite internet for approved operational data
  • Gateway links into temporary local networks
  • Power and charging plans for extended activity
Availability is subject to operational readiness, licensing, location, equipment, trained personnel and an agreed support plan.
