A LAYERED APPROACH
No single technology is resilient in every situation
UKRCS plans communications around the task, location, available infrastructure, legal requirements and likely failure points. Fixed internet and mobile networks may remain the best option. Where they are limited, appropriately licensed radio, satellite backhaul, local networks and offline tools can provide additional layers.
Support being developed
- Communications planning for exercises and suitable public-benefit activities
- Portable voice, data and local networking capability
- Incident logging, mapping and managed operational devices
- Battery-backed power, charging and endurance planning
- Trained operators working to documented procedures
UKRCS is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 999 or 112. UKRCS does not replace statutory responders, public safety communications, network providers or an organisation's legal responsibilities.
